With experience developing materials for a wide range of flight vehicles, from jet aircraft to powerless glider aircraft, Cynergy has the technical knowledge required to create unique industry solutions. Whether your company requires consulting advice, design innovation, advanced testing, molding, or product development, Cynergy is fully capable of taking your project in the aerospace and aviation industry to the next level.
TPS: Cynergy developed carbon fiber nose cones for jet aircraft used to train fighter pilots. This project required Cynergy to mold and craft large carbon fiber components while adhering to precise specifications. The new nose cones are stronger and lighter than the previous ones, enhancing both the maneuverability and the durability of the aircraft
Automotive
Composite materials provide numerous benefits to products within the automotive industry, having key advantages in terms of strength, weight reduction, fire-resistance, durability, and vibration-dampening. Increased strength means safer vehicles, and reduced weight leads to less wear and tear on the tires, suspension, and other vehicle components. Obviously, fire-resistance is crucial in terms of increasing vehicle safety, and Cynergy has recently invested in expanding its fireproof testing for various composite materials to ultimately develop safer products for the market. From developing lightweight exterior panels for electric utility vehicles to manufacturing components for performance vehicles, Cynergy offers a wealth of expertise pertaining to the automotive industry. Dedicated to finding innovative ways to increase vehicle performance and safety, the team at Cynergy will find unique solutions benefiting its automotive customers.
GM COPO Hoods: With its roots in automotive performance and racing, Cynergy has decades of experience with crafting automotive parts to increase vehicle performance. Demonstrating its design and manufacturing capabilities, Cynergy produced specialty carbon fiber hoods for a line of production performance cars in partnership with one of the largest and most advanced automotive manufacturers in the world. Collaborating with organizations to develop innovative products drives Cynergy’s business forward, paving new roads in terms of the role of composite materials in automotive production.
Community & Art
Cynergy actively seeks opportunities to be involved in the community, and is proud to have worked with community groups and organizations on several projects spanning various functional areas. Whether the opportunity is local, or across Canada, Cynergy is honoured to have its products on display and being used within the community. Cynergy has experience with developing public art pieces, which provides a unique opportunity to display Cynergy’s capabilities on a public stage. Outdoor art displays must be durable and weather-resistant to survive the harsh Canadian climate, so Cynergy has experience with utilizing composite materials to craft art displays that will stand the test of time. Additionally, Cynergy has experience working with organizations to develop products for use in community facilities, such as swimming pools, taking advantage of the anti-corrosion properties of composites, and increasing the durability and appearance of the facilities in use. Cynergy is also proud to have worked with some of the region’s top educational organizations, such as the University of Waterloo, on several innovative projects to bring the community forwards.
Vancouver Tree: Standing thirteen metres tall, the Golden Tree in Vancouver is (literally) one of Cynergy’s largest achievements. Replicating the famed Hollow Tree in Stanley Park, Cynergy was chosen to partner with Douglas Coupland to create the structure, crafting it from various materials and designing intricate details with coated foam while integrating a rigid steel frame underneath. The tree was so massive that Cynergy utilized a rotating stand to hold the structure horizontally throughout the production process.
Acapulco Pools: Partnering with a leading facility management company across Southern Ontario, Cynergy has earned a reputation for consistency and quality when providing composite products to upgrade community facilities, such as swimming pool slides and bridges. Withstanding constant use, Cynergy’s products have the durability required for community facilities, and they enhance the appearance and usability of the location.
University of Waterloo: Having partnered with a student team at the University of Waterloo to develop a unique hybrid prototype vehicle was a unique opportunity for Cynergy. Providing components and expertise to further advance the project, Cynergy helped to inspire the next generation of innovators and engineers within the community.
Consumer Goods
The benefits of composite materials aren’t just limited to industrial or mechanical uses – they extend to a multitude of industries and purposes. For example, athletes rely on sporting equipment to be lightweight and durable to withstand physical contact without weighing the athlete down, and composite materials can improve both of those attributes. Musical instruments can benefit from the vibration-isolating properties of composites. Water-resistance and heat-resistance are two key additional properties of composite materials, which have limitless applications within consumer and industrial goods. Cynergy is excited to explore the possibilities of enhancing your company’s products through the integration of composite materials.
Hayden Harps: Partnering with an innovative firm to produce musical instruments, Cynergy designed and fabricated carbon fiber components for instruments, enhancing several properties of the product. The integration of carbon fiber into the design made the instrument lighter, benefitting the transportation and handling of the product. Additionally, the non-absorbent surface makes it easier for musicians to disinfect and clean the instrument, and the frame is impervious to climatic conditions, unlike instruments made from other materials. Composite materials such as carbon fiber have vibration-isolating properties, which impacts the sound and tone of instruments dramatically, and therefore benefits the experience of the musician.
Defense
Cynergy has assisted multiple international defense contractors in developing products that are safer and more effective for military and defense purposes. From performing extensive fireproof testing, Cynergy has been able to drive key findings in terms of the fire-resistant properties of composite materials, and has therefore been able to create innovative products that are less prone to heat and flame damage. Beyond that, Cynergy has experience with improving vibration-dampening, thermal insulation, and blast-protection for several products used by defense partners. Having registered in the Controlled Goods Program, Cynergy is fully certified to handle data and components that have military or national security significance, in accordance with legislation provided by the Government of Canada and defined in the Defense Production Act. This ensures the protection and confidentiality of the workplace, data and components utilized by Cynergy while working on a project.
